Course Description

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides Learners with the opportunity to develop their fire safety awareness to help ensure that they are keeping themselves and others safe at all times in the workplace. This qualification has been developed to provide an introduction to the basics of fire awareness in the workplace.

This qualification will help any business or organisation to meet its duties under current fire safety legislation by giving employees essential knowledge about fire safety, helping them to understand how to prevent a fire from starting as well as what actions to take if a fire does break out.

It is ideal for employees undertaking induction training, for those with no specific fire-safety role and also as an introduction for those employees who will be embarking on further fire safety training (for example the Level 2 Award in Fire Safety for Fire Marshals (RQF)

This qualification is typically delivered over 1/2 day.

This can also be taken as part of the level 2 qualification.

Who should attend

It is intended for all employees and can be used as an induction to fire safety in the workplace or as a refresher course.

Course Description

 The QNUK Level 2 Award in Fire Safety for Fire Marshals (RQF) qualification is intended for those that are undertaking the role of a fire marshal or fire warden in a workplace. The qualification builds on the QNUK Level 1 Award in Fire Awareness at Work (RQF) and includes safe evacuation and personal emergency evacuation plans (PEEPS).  The  Level 2 Award in Fire Safety for Fire Marshals (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that has been specifically designed for anyone who has a specific responsibility for fire safety in the workplace, such as designated fire wardens or fire marshals.
 
This level 2 qualification is aimed at anyone requiring a Fire Warden or a Fire Marshal in the workplace. The qualification covers the latest fire safety regulations and the roles and duties of employees and their responsibilities on Fire Safety. The qualification is designed to meet and comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. It covers how fires are started, methods of controlling fire spread, evacuating the building, fire briefings and risk assessing.

This qualification is typically delivered over 1 day. It is intended for those undertaking the role of a fire marshal or fire warden in a workplace.

Who should attend

This qualification is aimed at anyone involved in the management of fire safety in any workplace. This includes managers, supervisors, team leaders and staff working in any area where there is a potential risk of fire. This course is designed for people who are responsible for fire safety in the workplace, such as Fire Wardens and Fire Marshals. During this 1 day course, Learners will develop their knowledge and skills in fire safety, including how fires are caused, the risks associated with fire, principles of fire safety management at work, understanding the role of a fire warden and more.

  • Outline how a safe evacuation can be undertaken in a workplace
  • Outline how members of the public and visitors should be alerted to the presence of a potential fire
  • Know how to support individuals during an evacuation
  • Outline what is meant by the term personal emergency evacuation plan
  • Explain when a personal emergency evacuation plan would be implemented
  • List ways of supporting an individual during an evacuation
  • Understand the roles of the fire marshal in the workplace
  • Explain the actions to be taken by a fire marshal during an evacuation
  • Outline how to undertake a search of a workplace
  • Outline the information that should be passed to the emergency services

Assessment process

  • This qualification is assessed by multiple choice questions.
  • There is a single multiple choice question paper. Learners must achieve a minimum of 70% to pass.

This qualification is available to those over 14 years, however, employers should ensure that fire marshals are suitable to undertake the role of a fire marshal.

Successful candidates will gain an understanding of fire safety management at work and the specific roles and responsibilities related to fire safety in the workplace.

QNUK Level 3 Award in Fire Risk Assessment (RQF)

Course Description

 

The QNUK Level 3 Award in Fire Risk Assessment Course is a two-day course designed for those who have the responsibility for writing and maintaining the fire risk assessment in the workplace.  This course is an OFQUAL accredited qualification through QNUK.

 As the ‘responsible person’ you must carry out a fire risk assessment of the workplace premises and review it regularly.  Risks need to be identified and appropriate fire safety measure put into place, such as; planning for emergencies, identifying people at risk, evaluate, remove or reduce the risks, providing staff with information and training in the event of a fire.  These are just a few of the key points which need to be addressed as part of a fire risk assessment.

The Fire Risk Assessment course is designed for delegates to identify hazards and take steps to prevent fire in order to protect the safety of occupants, visitors and those in the immediate vicinity. This course will offer practical hands-on experience in this area and allows delegates to gain experience in undertaking actual fire risk assessments.

Who should attend

This qualification is intended for those that are looking to undertake fire risk assessments in the workplaces.

This course is for anyone over 18 years of age. Candidates should be at least a level 2 numeracy and literacy or equivalent.

  • Describe the stages involved in a typical workplace fire risk assessment
  • Outline the requirements for recording, monitoring, reviewing and revising fire risk assessments
  • Complete a fire risk assessment of a work environment
  • Identify hazards in relation to a fire in the workplace
  • Identify those that may be harmed by a workplace fire and how this harm may occur
  • Evaluate the level of risk created by fire hazards
  • Suggest appropriate controls to reduce the risk of a fire in the workplace to an acceptable level
  • Record the findings of the fire assessment
  • Complete a fire risk assessment report
