The qualification is not suitable for those that are likely to have to break away or physically intervene with violent individuals.

BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Managing Conflict in the Workplace when Dealing with Customers, Service Users or the Public

Course Description

This BTEC Level 2 Certificate is aimed at people who need a knowledge of conflict management when dealing with conflict with customers, service users or the public. This course covers how to avoid and manage conflict situations. This qualification allows you to combine a more’soft-skills’ approach to the management of violence and aggression which will be compatible with many risk management programmes. It is an essential ingredient in the full menu of managing workplace violence.

The course includes how communication skills can be used both to avoid conflict and to resolve problems once conflict has been defused. It then considers the factors that influence human responses in a conflict situation, for example, triggers and triggers and inhibitors, and moves on to ways in which to assess and reduce risks in conflict situations. The course also covers how communication skills can be used to de-escalate conflict and post-incident issues, such as support and the importance of sharing practice.

This course provides a nationally recognised certified qualification.

Course Objectives

This Unit is the first Unit (Level 2) of the BTEC Level 3 Award in the Delivery of Conflict Management Training which will give the learner a BTEC Level 2 Unit Certificate in Managing Conflict in the Workplace when Dealing with Customers, Service Users or the Public”.

Pre-Registration Requirements

Candidates who register for this award must have:

  • The personal ability to undertake classroom training and sit written exam papers

This is a Two-Day duration course and on completion, all successful delegates will be awarded their Level 2 accreditation.

Assessment

This course can be assessed either as a BTEC Level 2 Certificate licensed via the National Federation for Personal Safety or we can run it as an ‘in-house’ course.
